Lynxes are peculiar, unlike anyone else, representatives of the cat family. They have a relatively short torso and tall, strong legs. The thick fur on the furry paws grows even between the pads of the fingers.

Social behavior

The lynx is a territorial animal. Wide migrations are unusual for it and where there is a lot of prey, this animal lives sedentary. In Europe, 1-2 individuals usually live on an area of 100 square kilometers.

Reproduction

Pregnancy lasts 63-70 days. Newborns (2-3 cubs) weigh 250-300 grams, they are blind, the auditory openings are covered with skin. All the care of the offspring falls entirely on the female. At the age of 3 months, the kittens leave the den and follow their mother everywhere.

Species and people

Like other predators, the lynx plays an important breeding role in the wild. This cat is not afraid of the neighborhood with a person, it can appear on the outskirts of towns and cities. On the other hand, reliable cases of lynx attacks on humans are unknown.

Interesting Facts

Small bobcats are easily tamed, but with age they become too independent.

The lynx aggressively chases smaller predators, especially foxes.
