Social behavior

It has a solitary daytime lifestyle. It spends nights in the trees. Lizards also spend the hottest time of the day on the branches and trunks of trees in the immediate vicinity of the water, where it is less stuffy. They adhere to strictly defined areas of their habitat.


After mating, the female makes up to 5 clutches containing from 6 to 24 eggs, the number of which varies based on the size, age and physical condition of the animal. The incubation period at a temperature of 25-30 ° C lasts about 60-100 days. Babies reach a length of about 12-15 cm.

Species and people

Water agamas can be tame and friendly. Many owners allow them to roam around the house like a pet, but it is dangerous because animals can catch a cold.

Interesting Facts

As the temperature rises, the color of the water agama becomes brighter and more saturated, and in case of danger, the color turns pale.
