Now every Monday at the zoo is a sanitary day. The need for it is due to two reasons.
Firstly, this is veterinary legislation, according to which, after a week's stay at the zoo, it takes a day to put things in order on the territory and maintain sanitary standards. A thorough cleaning of alleys, halls for visitors, aviaries, common areas and premises for staff is carried out. This is the time for minor repairs, maintenance of buildings and structures, replacement of water in swimming pools, etc.
Secondly, in accordance with modern requirements for the maintenance and welfare of animals in zoological parks, a sanitary day is needed for the psychological relaxation of animals. Animals get tired of excessive attention, extraneous noise and other factors.
