The tradition of celebrating the Earth Day has come into existence not long ago. In 1969 out of oil well near South Californian city of Santa Barbara tons of oil had been spilled. Mortal film of grease that killed everything alive covered huge spaces of coasts and ocean water.
This terrible event woke up minds of people and it was decided to dedicate one day in a year to conservation of our poor Earth. That was how the tradition of the Earth Day was born.
