Distribution of Awards for Winners of Conservational Event “Let’s Save the Coniferous Trees this New Year! ”
It has been many years since Kharkov Zoo started an important conservational campaign to save coniferous Trees. When New Year’s Eve comes, we do our best to get to the heart of everyone and to convince people not to use live trees for New Year decorations. Each year the Zoo launches the campaign “Let’s Save the Trees this New Year!”. Our guides try hard to find the most convincing words to tell the visitors of the Campaign. We organize exhibitions of art and craft dedicated to this topic.

The Zoo is always glad to meet its guests – adults, children – who are kind, responsive and affectionate to our animals.
The most exciting time in your favourite leisure place are, of course, New Year and Christmas events. They brighten the middle of winter with Christmas ornaments, fairy lights, meeting with Father Frost, children laughter, gofts and wonders. Our Zoo does its best to make these days long-remembered-after for all our friends.

Those who never hob-and-nobbed with horses, will never be able to imagine the world of which Aleksander Kouprine, Russian writer, said “Those who have fallen in love with our horse job, will stay like this forever! One will never get out of it”…

At last true winter has come. After mild autumn the winter gracefully takes the main place. Those who live in big cities and are constantly engaged in their daily routine, are seldom able to “stand and stare” at the beauty of the nature. The Zoo has become quite charming due to fresh new snow. Paths covered with thick white carpet and large snowcaps on oaks and pine-trees give a special look to the Zoo, beautiful and inviting.

On the 3rd of December The Zoo again met its guests. This time it was the event “We Love the Zoo” dedicated to the International Day of the Disabled. It has become a yearly tradition to celebrate this event at Kharkov Zoo. Our aim is not only to distract attention of sick children but also to give them possibility to have a direct contact with animals. In other words, we use Zootherapy and it gives positive results.

With great sadness we inform of the death of our friend and colleague, a reliable and kind person, VLADIMIR NEZHEVENKO. He was an open-hearted man who worked hard to protect the nature of Ukraine. He was a person who loved animals, who understood and knew them… He was ready to lend his strong shoulder and his generous HEART… To everybody…
We will always miss him…

Visitors of our web-site and many other people are still interested to learn how Simba lion is doing. Simba was saved in 2010. We are ready to tell that Simba leads a happy life in our “Carnivore House” and is doing nicely. He has good relationship with his wife, Nala tigress. As it always goes with cats, they spend hours caressing each other, licking out each other’s skin.
