Halloween is a Celtic Feast

In the night from the 31st to the 1st of October we are celebrating Halloween, a Celtic feast that originates from the ancient times. People believed then that during this night doors into the other world are open.

With arrival of Christianity people started celebrating the All Saints' Day. Therefore, this event is an alloy of two opposite rites, Celtic upheaval of other-world forces and Christian worship of saints. One of the most significant symbols of Halloween is "Jack O Lantern". This is a well-known attribute made of carved pumpkin with a burning candle inside.

Halloween has become a traditional event in all Zoos of Europe and America. Animal enclosures are decorated with various ornaments made of pumpkin. Herbivorous and omnivorous animals get pumpkins as treats. Zoo guests are enjoying various shows and theme amusements.
