"Pumpkin Day" at Kharkov Zoo

Halloween is the night before All Saints' Day. This ambiguous and tricky holiday comes from ancient celtic traditions that existed in the territory of modern Britain and Northern Ireland two thousand years ago. On that day people followed a ritual of parting with everything that was outdated, bad and not needed. One of the symbols of Halloween is a pumpkin fruit.

This holiday has also gained popularity in this country of late. In this country it is called "Pumpkin Day". People carve punpkins in various shapes and styles and celebrate this event in the evening.

Night passes over, holiday comes to its end. Kids from school N89 celebrated this event, too. After the celebration they decided to make a present to our biggest mammals, to elephants. These giants of the fry land readily accepted the present of pumpkins and ate their pumpkins with gusto.
